Due to Serienjunkies the 1rst sesaon of Vincent Kartheiser's Mad Men will be on German pay tv from July 6th 2009. The show will be aired by FOX channel, which is part of the Premiere abo.
The 3rd season of Mad Men will be on air in US in August 2009.


Nach einer Meldung von Serienjunkies wird die erste Staffel von Vincent Kartheiser's Mad Men in Deutschland vom 06. Juli an über PayTV zu empfangen sein. Die Serie wird vom FOX channel ausgestrahlt, der über das Premiere Abo empfangen werden kann.
In den USA wird im August diesen Jahres die 3. Staffel bei AMC zu sehen sein.

Vincent Kartheiser turns 30 today, so we wish him all the luck in the world an a really nice birthday celebration :-)

This interview with Vincent Kartheiser was hold by Michael Politz from Food&Beverage Magazine and published on their website this month. My friend Engel@Wolke7 discovered it on the net. It doesn't give any interesting informations about Mad Men or any upcoming projects, this article really focus on the restaurant (Kitchen 24), it's Executive Chef David Rosenberger and why Vincent, who is a vegetarian, seems to be a regular guest there. On television’s Mad Men, Vincent Kartheiser plays Peter Campbell, a Junior Account Executive at the fictional ad agency, Sterling Cooper. In real life, Vincent Kartheiser is a chef’s dream.

Sure he’s a vegetarian, which might make some offal-loving chefs a little batty; but he doesn’t let it get in his way of digging into a menu. As a matter of fact, he relishes the opportunity to let a chef’s talent shine through. Kartheiser explains, “It’s really easy being a vegetarian. I never have a problem finding something to eat. I’m actually one of the few people who say ‘chef’s preference – please cook it how the chef chose it to be made’ rather than asking for everything on the side.”

Chefs like David Rosenberger, Executive Chef at Kitchen 24, LA’s hot new 24-hour restaurant on Cahuenga Boulevard where we caught up with Kartheiser recently, welcome diners like this award- winning actor. And he welcomes all the finicky eaters who make their way to Kitchen 24 and aren’t as laid back as Kartheiser. Do you enjoy the fashion?

I never really wore suits before this. It does look amazing. The thing is, now when I go to get a suit fitted, or I go to pick out a shirt, I am looking for a suit that really fits. I am so used to being strapped in on set, so if it is not tailored I feel like it is wearing me.

I have learned a lot about fashion on this show and Janie Bryant is a true artist. She is a perfectionist and has helped define our characters and the story

Is it true that you have to shave three to four times a day?

I think Jon Hamm has to shave three to four times a day. I have to shave twice a day. I will shave in the morning and, if I have a long day, then 10 to 12 hours later I will shave again.

Does it feel like you live in the Sixties when you get on set everyday?

Well I think this show in general is about insight into where we are now. Part of it is about comparing and contrasting how we have changed or not and how the human drama stays consistent no matter what generation we are in.

That being said, if you are going to look at the Sixties and the 21st century, there are definitely things that you can take from this show. Some things are tongue-in-cheek and some things are more profound, but I don't get to set and feel like we are in 1960 because I have an iPhone in my pocket.

Do you crack each other up between takes?

Well, everyone is funny in a different way. John Slattery and Jon Hamm have a great back and forth thing going on. So when they are together everyone just kind of shuts up and listens.

Cinematically were you amazed when you first watched the first episode?

I have a lot of respect for the people who work behind the camera on this show. I thought each one of these shots probably took all day to film but, no, you just don't have that luxury in television. It is seven to eight pages a day and you are shooting a scene in two takes.

To get all of the richness we get on Mad Men is really amazing on the schedule. I am blown away by that work, they are amazing.

It is great you all get along so well with the long hours.

I don't have long hours. I think Jon Hamm works his ass off and January and Elisabeth too. My hours are pretty great. It is a pretty lax schedule. I try not to gloat too much as I skip off at 2pm after starting at noon.

What do you do in your free time?

Nothing. Just lay around. Pretty uneventful. I Google strange sentences.

What do you watch?

I watch a lot of news, finance and nature programmes. I watched The Wire, Californication and, sometimes, Dexter. I watch things that people turn me on to like 30 Rock and The Office. I think both of those are really funny.

The English version of The Office is great too. I saw it years ago when I was flying over to London and they had a Christmas special on the plane. I ordered it because it was the top on Virgin favorites. I was blown away, so I watched three more episodes on the plane and, the second I got back to the States, I found the DVD.

3 days ago this press note catched my attention: BBFC released some information about a season one Mad Men Edition, which will have a lot of audio commentaries on it. The best thing for us: Vincent Kartheiser is among the speakers :-) This Mad Men "version" was classified on march, 10th 2009, so it's definitely something new. I'm still not sure, if this is some special edition or maybe the Blue Ray disc, they already announced at amazon.co.uk.

Edit at 10:56: A friend of mine - B-Maus - just found out that these features indeed appear at the new Blue Ray disk, and will be released at May, 11 2009 in UK. Source: DVD Times


Vor 3 Tagen bin ich über eine Pressemitteilung der BBFC gestolpert, die Informationen über eine neue Mad Men   Fassung (1. Staffel), die einiges an Audio-Kommentaren - auch von Vincent Kartheiser - beinhaltet. Diese Version war am 10. März klassifiziert worden, also muß es eine neue Edition sein - und sie hat massig Zusatzmaterial in Form von Audio-Kommentaren. Mir ist nicht ganz klar, ob es sich dabei um die schon bei amazo.co.uk angekündigte Blue-Ray Disk handelt oder ob alle in den Genuß kommen werde.

Ich habe ihn bei Entertainment Weekly's Popwatch, er handelt von der Verlängerung von Vincent Kartheiser's Mad Men für eine weitere Staffel. 'Mad Men' is coming back! Praise be to AMC.

Ah, finally a pinch of good news for The Great Depression '09: Mad Men is coming back! A third season (set to premiere this summer) may seem like a no-brainer to readers of Entertainment Weekly, where we've been gaga for the Madison Avenue smokers' lounge since it debuted in 2007. But undying love doesn't always keep a show on the air (Exhibit B: the just barely DirecTV-rescued Friday Night Lights), especially when there's a contract dispute like the one between Mad Men producer Lionsgate and series creator Matthew Weiner (AMC head Charles Collier says he's optimistic about Weiner eventually coming on board).

I have to admit, I was a little put off at the beginning of season 2. I think after the first season (which I watched one-after-the-other from my DVR) I was just so pumped for it to come back that I sort of forgot that Mad Men is about slowly seeping into every pore, not blasting you in the face with an icy splash. Episodes end with a subtlety that sometimes takes me a couple days to realize how devastating it actually was (Don sending away his admiring daughter then collapsing on the bathroom toilet, silently peering at the man he saw staring back at him from the door mirror). I think what really hooked me on season 2 was how Don finally got some comeuppance. Betty (whose cold detachment is a bit too one-dimensional, for my taste) finally booted her cheating bread-winner, ostracizing him to the solitude of a sterile hotel room. As we saw Don lying on top of a shiny bedspread, missing his home, his kids, his life, I felt like we were growing ever closer to a vulnerability that he spends every smoking/drinking/car seat-humping moment to hide. I love Don as much as any other man, woman, and child with a pulse, and I don't enjoy it when he fails or hurts. But Mad Men is at its core about people struggling to deal with themselves and each other in a changing, unpredictable world, and it was satisfying in the second season to see some piper-paying after all the crap he's pulled.

Plus, how about that intense scene between Peggy and Pete they left us with? And don't even get me started on Joan -- I could watch an hour of Joan walking around the office delivering mail. Let's just hope they don't waste any time addressing that nastiness with her fiance. I don't like how that was left hanging. So how about it, PopWatchers? More Mad Men! YES! What did you love most about last season, and what do you want when it comes back?

Vincent's Mad Men won the 66th Golden Globe Award in the category Best Television Series - Drama. The show and the cast had received 3 nominations, but neiter Jon Hamm nor January Jones were successful in Best Performance by an Actress/Actor In A Television Series - Drama, so the only Globe left was for the show itself.
